Resume Project

This resume says everything an employer would need to know when looking to hire someone. Abbey's name is big, right on top, and centered to catch the viewer's eye easily. It's also balanced and symmetrical which is visually pleasing.

Flyer Project

This flyer is created to educate and bring more attention to the issue with insulin prices being so overly expensive. The main focus of this flyer is on the picture of the insulin and other devices people with diabetes have to use everyday. The flyer gives information about the issue and also offers a website for viewers to visit to sign a petition.

Brochure Project

This brochure is created for an at home date night, and the overall design is cohesive by using dark reds and purples to fit the date night aesthetic. Cooking at home can be fun and a good bonding experience and this brochure offers easy and fun dinner ideas for a romantic night in. Crash course also has other options to choose from besides date night, and the brochure offers those options as well.

Postcard Project

This postcard is an overall representation of who Abbey is as a person, her favorite hobby, and work experience. The use of Abbey's favorite color green is cohesively used throughout the postcard, which also matches her picture and eyes which also helps represent who she is as a person. Supplying her email and phone number was smart for anyone who was interested in reaching out.

Logo Project

Simply Clothes is a sustainable fashion company that works to help the planet and people's wallets. The logo being a retail clothing tag represents what type of company it us, and the use of green colors represents helping the planet and saving money. The design is simple and delicate. 

Business Card Project

This business card was based on Abbey and Simply Clothing together, which is why the color green is dominate in this design. The main focuses of the business card are the logo and Abbey's name, which are the two most important elements. It's a simple design that still represents something through color and organization.

Sustainable Fashion Made Simply

     Simply Fashion is a new and upcoming fashion brand. It's a sustainable fashion company that values the planet and the consumer. Originating in Buffalo, Simply Clothes' target consumer are young women between the ages of 15-35. Fast fashion companies that aren't sustainably operated have been known to be one the top causes of pollution and green house gas emissions. Fast fashion brand also are known to exploit it's workers to terrible, life threatening working conditions. As a sustainable company, Simply Clothing uses recycled clothing material to create it's garments. Another thing to point out is that other sustainable fashion companies are very expensive. The goal of Simply Clothing is to make sustainable fashion affordable as well. The pieces they will be selling include timeless pieces inspired by the 1970's. There's patterns and colors suck as pinks, oranges, and greens. Style always comes back around, and Simply Clothing is ready to offer is valuable customers fun and cute pieces that are good for the planet and the consumer's wallet. Simply Clothing will be opening up it's first store on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, NY this summer of 2021. It also has an Instagram page, @itssimplyclothing. Insulin prices are too high

     In the U.S. alone, around 30 million people have diabetes. Insulin is used to control blood sugar in people who have diabetes. Without insulin, the body can't access enough sugar to function properly. The problem is, insulin prices are extremely high. The fact that insulin is very expensive can effect a patient's life. 

    Between 2012 and 2016 the price of insulin almost doubled. In 2020 the cost of one can of insulin was around $250 each. Most people with diabetes need around six of those each month. Some people may not have insurance which can make their prices even higher. These expensive prices are unbelievable and need to become more affordable to patients. 

Without insulin a diabetic's body won't be able to function properly. High blood sugar can negatively effect organs and cells in someone's body. What happens if a diabetic can't afford insulin? The outrageous insulin prices need to changed. Insulin needs to become affordable for people with diabetes in order for them to live a healthy life. 

Clothes are Killing the Planet

    Fast fashion has become a popular concept in today's society. Fast fashion is when a company rapidly produces cheap clothing at a low cost. The low quality materials are created quickly to provide the consumer with fast, low price items. Although it may sound good for the person purchasing the clothes, fast fashion has resulted in a negative consumption patterns in consumers. Trends come and go which results in companies constantly producing these cheap articles in clothes in mass quantities. The constant overload of clothes results in land fills being swamped with these articles of clothing. Fast fashion not only effects the consumer, but it negatively effects the planet too.

    Fast fashion has a huge negative impact on the planet. It causes 10% of all carbon emissions and has become the second biggest cause of pollution. This process also causes a great use of water to create these quick pieces constantly. Fast fashion not only effects the planet, but it effects the workers too. The workers created these items usually work long days with barely any pay. They are also exploited to dangerous working conditions. Some examples of these companies include Forever21, Missguided, Nasty Gal, and many more.

    To stop the effects of fast fashion, the consumer should try a few alternatives. Rather than purchase from these fast fashion companies, purchase second hand. One can purchase second hand from thrift stores, consignment shops, and online apps such as Poshmark. Choosing to use these methods can greatly impact our planet and help take a stand against the mistreatment of the workers at the fast fashion companies. Rather than throwing out old clothes, people can resell their items online or in person. They may also donate their clothes to places such as Goodwill or Salvation Army. It's time to boycott fast fashion brands and go a more sustainable route. Doing this will be the first step to stoping the negative effects of fast fashion.
